Tuesday..

A few pictures of the house.

The wonderful start to the roof... If they can get it closed in there is a better chance everything inside can be done during the rest of the winter months.

Is it Summer yet?

I think it's happened.. I'm starting to get used to this weather. Last week Sabetha was hit by a pretty bad storm that caused 10 inches of snow and blizzard warnings. School was cancelled for three days and one evening the low was -9!!! I think it deserves a repeat..... -9!!!! So here is the crazy part.. Friday morning I let the dogs out and noticed it wasn't that cold.. the sun was shinning and the wind was barely blowing. I came back inside and told Donna about the nice weather.. she went to the computer to check the temperature. Of course I'm thinking maybe 35-40 degrees.. After checking the site she looks at me and starts laughing- It was 23 degrees! I now think 23 degree's is NICE! What is happening to this Texas girl??

Besides learning how to drive on snow-packed roads its been pretty quiet around here. The workers boarded up the house and have been framing the basement during the cold weather. We'll be heading down to Dallas this weekend and I plan to stay for a week to visit with my mom and see friends.

The girls playing in the snow.. they lasted about 10 mins outside. I think the high was 12 that day!

Sam's birthday is this week and since we'll be in Dallas I thought he deserved a night to hang out with his friends. We watched the K-State game, enjoyed great bar food and of course the guys were a blast.

I love them!

Staying warm

So its been pretty cold here... I'm talking high in the upper 20's. Basically that means I don't leave the house unless I have to work or the dogs need to potty. Good thing there's always family around to entertain so I'm never bored. Ash and Jarod were in town this weekend so we took the opportunity to get some adorable shots of Bailey in her new red outfit.

I think she was done at this point
Since Bud and Sam were reffing Saturday night Gina brought the kids over and we had a ball playing with them. Kiera is all about the dogs and spends a good 20 mins throwing the tennis ball for Toby. Tallen found Papa's glasses and decided to try them on.. :-)

Busy few weeks

Its been pretty busy with Thanksgiving, visiting Dallas and starting a new job. Here's a quick update.

We enjoyed Thanksgiving day in Sabetha with the family and then headed to Dallas Friday morning. After getting up early and driving 9 hours we hung around my moms house and played with the kids. Saturday we had a fabulous thanksgiving lunch then later took Britnie to see Blindside. If you haven't seen it, please make sure you do. It was hilarious and such a great story.
There's been some great progress on the house.

Snow Day

We woke up this morning and saw the entire town was covered in white. The upcoming storm wasn't predicated to hit until the afternoon but by then we already had close to 10 inches on the ground. I helped Donna shovel snow for about an hour and it was definitely a workout.
Toby is the only dog around here that actual likes the wet stuff..

New York Trip

We headed north for a quick trip to visit my grandparents and do some sightseeing. Overall we had a great time... minus the horrible plane ride.
Our flight to New York was scheduled for 6am so it was still dark when we arrived at the airport. As we pulled in, the rain started to come down. I'm thinking.. no big deal.. I hadn't heard of any storms so I'm sure it'll pass. WRONG! We got through security and sat by the window and watched a monsoon hit the airport. I was confident that our flight would be delayed and was completely fine sitting and waiting for the storm to pass. I was very wrong again.. We started to board and took off right on time. The next 20 minutes were spent saying a few prayers and stuffing my head into Sam's shoulder. I've never been on a flight that bumpy and it will honestly been awhile before I book another. I'm happy Dallas is only an 8 hour drive :-)
Besides the way our trip started, we had a great time seeing the city and hanging with family.

Fun Weekend

What a great weekend of sports! Sam, Daniel, Michelle, and I headed to Manhattan early Saturday morning to watch the K-State basketball team scrimmage. Then we headed over to Snyder Stadium to enjoy the Cats beat Colorado.. it was a great game. Lets hope they can keep it going.
The rest of the weekend was spent hanging out and enjoying Bailey and Ash being around.

Week Two

The forms were removed on Monday but thats really it due to rain. We've started the overwhelming process of searching for floors, wall color and cabinets. There's so much to choose from I hope we can pick... and agree :-)

Week One

We've made it through the first week of construction and its been great. I still can't believe they started digging on Monday and by Friday the basement walls were poured. I hope this is a sign of how the rest of the work will go...I've been constantly checking the weather and crossing my fingers for no rain...

Dirt Work

We have a hole! Hopefully they'll pour cement by the end of the week. It's really exciting to watch the house take shape!

House

First signs of our house going up.. poles for electricity! I know.. sounds pretty boring but it really makes me happy! Once the house is done they will take the poles out and bury the lines underground.

Weekend Fun

Sam and I had a great weekend of football and family. We headed down to Topeka on Friday to watch the WU volleyball team. They ended up loosing but it was nice to hang with Brian and his girlfriend Sammie.
Saturday morning we got up bright and early to tailgate at the WU football game.. notice a trend? We left Sabetha around 7:30am and headed back down to Topeka to help the guys set up. I always have a great time hanging with the guys, seeing old faces and enjoying the beautiful weather.
